I almost forgot to mention that this wasn't the first time I tagged along, the first time was at Goodwood Park hotel; and this wasn't just the first time I attended a wedding as a photographer, this was also the first time I realised, how lousy a D60 is compared to a professional DSLR.
The same photo taken with ISO 1600 on my D60, had more noise/grain compared to thom's D700 at ISO 4000. That was when I knew, that I had to get a new camera... soon.
Anyway, back to the wedding. Chinese in Singapore usually follow a tradition - the groom goes to the bride's home to pick her up, upon reaching her gate -which is locked - the bride's "sister's" (maid-of-honours) will have some nice food and games in-store for the groom and his unlucky "brother's". The time of which the groom arrives is dependent on the groom's dialect, or in current times, dependent on whatever time the couple wants to wake up.
The food prepared by the "sister's" usually consist of something very sweet, very sour, very bitter and very spicy - all to represent the sweet, sour, bitter and spicy trials, tribulations & bliss we experience in life.

Only after the groom and his "brothers" have finished the food and whatever ridiculous games the "sisters" come up with, plus a huge red packet - a small red envelope used to put money, and to represent good fortune - given to the "sisters" for all the "hardwork" they had to put in, are the groom and his "brothers" allowed to enter.

After the tea ceremony at the bride's house, the couple and their "brothers & sisters" head off to the grooms house. In contrast to the groom, the bride gets a warm welcome into the home together with all her "sisters".

After another tea ceremony and lunch, everyone gets to go home and have a good rest, in preparation for the wedding dinner banquet.
Note to self: drink lots of caffeinated drinks in the morning of my wedding day.
